Highlights of some of our development projects includes:
• Villa has signed an Agreement with the Government of Maldives for the construction and operation of a domestic airport at Maamigili Island in South Ari Atoll to facilitate convenient transfer to tourists particularly those arriving by night flights - target date of completion 2005.
• Villa is currently developing the first ever 7 star resort and Spa in the Maldives
• Construction of Fuel Farm for storage of petrol, diesel and heavy oil with a total capacity of 38,000 m3.
• Construction of Cement Silos for storing up to 8,000 tons of cement along with packing facility suitable for packing up to 900 bags (of 50 kg) per hour as well as facility to pack jumbo bags of 1,000 kg.
• Villa undertakes a number of development projects to provide electricity and community development. Villa Foundation has funded a major component of electrification projects such as providing 15 expensive cables and more than 100 distribution boxes along with street lighting systems to about 10 islands. Ten generators have been extended by Villa Foundation to six islands so far, and more generators are to be provided to island communities during the next few months.
• Dredging and harbor development projects have been major developmental projects undertaken by Villa Foundation in order to ease these difficulties faced by some island communities. Dredging and harbor development projects have been carried out in North, Central and South of Maldives.
